Boston City Hall Wedding | Regina + Brad

This past Friday I photographed my very first elopement.  Even as I write this, I think the word elopement doesn’t properly explain just how magical Brad and Regina’s marriage really was.

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary … to elope means:  to slip away : escape.

: to run away from one’s husband with a lover.

: to run away secretly with the intention of getting married usually without parental consent.

Since none of these are true, I’d prefer to dub this beautiful union a harmonious coming together of two people, who are completely and madly in love.  Makes me think of my favorite Jack Kerouac quote from On the Road, “The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue center-light pop and everybody goes ‘Awww!'”

Yup, that’s how I feel about Brad and Regina, two of my most favorite of couples who I am honored to call friends.  They didn’t care that it was raining, or that they forgot their boutineer and bouquet at home, they were too busy being excited to finally be able to call each other “Husband and Wife.”

Perhaps this is something we call can remember, as we plan our wedding celebrations … at the end of the day, after the dance floor has emptied, decorations have come down, the flowers are wilted, and friends and family have returned home … all you’re left with is each other.  The promises you’ve made, and your future together … in all of it’s uncertainties, is really quite amazing and beautiful.

And here is when I full on cried, happy tears of course, but seriously, can you blame me?!

Mr. & Mrs. Macomber, thank you!  It was incredible to be there and capture your promises to each other.   Absolutely beautiful!  Wishing you lots of love and happiness 🙂
