I was introduced to Borderland State Park by my Husband on our 2nd date. He took me there to play a round of disc golf – something I had never done before and so I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Have you heard of disc golf? If not, it’s a sport where you throw a variety of small disks, ranging in weight and shape, at a metal basket that can be up to 500 ft away (maybe even more!?). The disks are kind-of like a Frisbee, but only smaller. Anyways, let’s just say Jon was lucky to make it out of the park alive that day – I can’t throw a disk (or Frisbee for that matter) to save my life. Seriously, I went to throw it towards the basket (which is usually straight ahead) and my disk would veer sharply to the right, sometimes the left … EVERY TIME. One of my throws actually hit him in the head! Clearly it was love at first sight, folks! Haha!
The point to this story is no matter how awful I am at disc golf, I still love going to Borderlands. Not just for the lovely memory, but for the fact that it’s a beautiful park with so many lovely spots for pictures. In talking with Jade and Matt about their engagement session, they mentioned they wanted to go somewhere that had a beautiful field – I knew right away that Borderlands was the place to go!
